Vanilla Custard Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 eggs, separated
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 2 cups milk, lukewarm
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease a 8×8 inch baking dish.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a small bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Whisk egg yolks and wet ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks with vanilla extract. Stir in the melted butter and lukewarm milk until well combined.
- Combine with dry ingredients: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until smooth.
- Beat egg whites: In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter, keeping the mixture as light as possible.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden and the center is set.
- Cool and serve: Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.
