Slow Cooker Sausages with Peppers and Onions Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1.5 lbs of your favorite sausages (Italian, bratwurst, etc.)
- 3 bell peppers (red, yellow, and green), sliced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
- 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional, for browning sausages)

- Slow cooker
Instructions:
- Brown the Sausages (Optional):
- If you prefer a little texture on your sausages, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook until they are browned on all sides. This step is optional but adds flavor.
- Layer Ingredients:
- Place the sliced onions and bell peppers in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Sprinkle the minced garlic, salt, pepper, and dried oregano over the vegetables.
- If you browned your sausages, add them next. If not, place the raw sausages directly on top of the vegetables.
- Add Liquid:
- Pour the broth over the ingredients in the slow cooker. This will help create steam and prevent the sausages from drying out.
- Cook:
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the vegetables are soft and the sausages are cooked through.
- Serve:
- Serve the sausages and vegetables hot. They pair well with mashed potatoes, crusty bread, or over cooked pasta.
