Ingredients:

– 2 tablespoons butter
– 1 onion, diced
– 2 carrots, diced
– 2 stalks celery, diced
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
– 2 cups chicken broth
– 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
– 1 teaspoon dried thyme
– 1 teaspoon dried parsley
– 1 bay leaf
– salt and pepper to taste
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 2 teaspoons baking powder
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 cup melted butter
– 2/3 cup milk Instructions:

Old chicken and dumplings

1. In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add onion, carrots, celery and garlic. Cook until vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.

2.Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir. Cook for 1 minute.

3. Add chicken broth, chicken schnitzel, thyme, parsley, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.4. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the milk until a soft dough forms.

5.Spoon the batter into the boiling chicken mixture. Cover and cook for 15 minutes.
