Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can of cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 cups frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika (optional, for sprinkling)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the onion and garlic until the meat is browned and the onions are translucent. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the cooked beef, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and frozen peas. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Assemble the Casserole: Spread the beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the beef mixture. Arrange the tater tots on top in a single layer.
  5. Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes. Then sprinkle the remaining cheese over the tater tots and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy and the cheese is bubbly.
  6. Serving: Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving. Sprinkle with paprika for a bit of extra flavor and color.
