Cheese-Topped Beef Buns Recipe
Ingredients:
- For the dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast (one packet)
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- For the filling:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
- For topping:
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 egg for egg wash

- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onions are translucent.
- Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Set aside to cool slightly.
- Assemble the Buns:
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a flat circle. Place a portion of the beef mixture in the center of each circle.
- Pull the edges of the dough over the filling, sealing it at the top to form a bun.
- Place the buns seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Add Toppings and Bake:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the tops of the buns with beaten egg and sprinkle shredded cheese over each.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the buns are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve:
- Allow the buns to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
