Layered Chocolate and Biscuit Dessert

 

 

 

Ingredients:

**For the Base:**
– 300 grams (10.5 oz) tea biscuits or graham crackers, broken into pieces
– 1 cup (240 ml) milk

**For the Chocolate Sauce:**
– 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
– 200 grams (7 oz) dark chocolate, chopped
– 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
– 1/2 cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

**For the Topping:**
– 200 grams (7 oz) dark chocolate, chopped
– 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
– Chopped nuts or sprinkles (for garnish)

#### Instructions:

1. **Prepare the Base**:
– Place the broken biscuits or graham crackers in a large mixing bowl.
– Pour the milk over the biscuits and gently mix until the biscuits are slightly softened but not mushy.

2. **Make the Chocolate Sauce**:
– In a medium saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
– Remove from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate, unsalted butter, and granulated sugar.
– Stir until the chocolate and butter are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
– Stir in the vanilla extract.

3. **Combine the Base with the Chocolate Sauce**:
– Pour the chocolate sauce over the softened biscuits.
– Mix until all the biscuit pieces are well coated with the chocolate sauce.

4. **Assemble the Dessert**:
– Line a 9×9 inch (23×23 cm) square baking dish with parchment paper.
– Pour the biscuit and chocolate mixture into the baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
– Press down gently to compact the mixture.

5. **Prepare the Topping**:
– In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
– Remove from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate.
– Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

6. **Add the Topping**:
– Pour the chocolate topping over the biscuit layer, spreading it out evenly.
– Garnish with chopped nuts or sprinkles, if desired.

7. **Chill**:
– Refrigerate the dessert for at least 2-3 hours, or until set.

8. **Serve**:
– Once set, remove the dessert from the refrigerator.
– Lift it out of the baking dish using the parchment paper.
– Cut into squares and serve.
