Ingredients:

  • For the Dumplings:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • Optional fillings: fruit jam, sweet cheese, or nutella
  • For the Caramel Sauce:
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream
    • 4 tablespoons butter
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For Dusting:
    • Powdered sugar

  1. Make the Dumplings:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
    • Mix in the melted butter and milk to form a soft dough.
    • Divide the dough into small balls, and if you’re using fillings, press a little into the center of each dough ball and seal it up.
  2. Prepare the Caramel Sauce:
    • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream.
    • Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to bubble.
    • Lower the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, then add vanilla extract. Remove from heat.
  3. Cook the Dumplings:
    • Bring a large pot of water to a simmer. Drop the dumplings into the simmering water and cook for about 10-15 minutes or until they rise to the surface and are fluffy.
    • Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon and drain well.
  4. Serve:
    • Arrange the cooked dumplings in a serving dish.
    • Pour the warm caramel sauce over the dumplings.
    • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
