Slow Cooker Lasagna Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
- 1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 9 uncooked lasagna noodles
Instructions:
- Brown the Meat:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the meat is browned and the onions are soft. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and set aside.
- Mix the Cheeses:
- In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, egg, parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Layer the Ingredients:
- Spread a layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Place a layer of uncooked lasagna noodles over the sauce (break them to fit).
- Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.
- Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. Top with the remaining Parmesan cheese.
- Cook:
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or until the noodles are tender.
- Serve:
- Let the lasagna sit in the slow cooker with the lid off for about 20 minutes to set before serving.
