Simple Ground Beef Tacos

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix (or make your own blend with chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper)
  • Taco shells or soft tortillas
  • Toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Ground Beef:
    • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and break it apart with a spatula.
    • Cook until the meat is browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
    • If desired, drain the meat to remove excess grease. You can do this by transferring the cooked beef to a colander in the sink and letting the fat drain away.
  2. Add Flavorings:
    • Return the skillet to the heat and add the diced onion and minced garlic to the drained meat. Cook until the onions are translucent and the garlic is fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
    • Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the meat, add a little water (about 1/4 cup), and stir to combine. Let it simmer for a few minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  3. Assemble the Tacos:
    • Warm the taco shells or tortillas according to package instructions.
    • Spoon the seasoned meat into the shells or tortillas.
    • Top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and salsa as desired.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the tacos hot, accompanied by any additional toppings or sides like beans or rice.

This recipe is quite flexible; you can adjust the level of spices and the type of toppings according to your taste. Enjoy your meal! If you need recipes for any other dishes or have specific dietary preferences, feel free to ask.
