Sausage Rolls

Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground sausage meat (or ground beef/pork, if preferred)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed if frozen
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sausage meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Assemble the Rolls:
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into rectangular strips.
- Take a portion of the sausage mixture and form it into a log shape, placing it along one edge of each pastry strip.
- Roll the pastry around the sausage mixture, sealing the edge by pressing it gently. Repeat with the remaining pastry and sausage mixture.
- Prepare for Baking:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the sausage rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, seam side down.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg for a golden finish and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and the sausage is cooked through.
- Serve:
- Allow the sausage rolls to cool slightly before serving. They’re perfect as appetizers or snacks!
