Poached Eggs Recipe
Poached eggs are a classic breakfast dish in which the eggs are gently cooked in boiling water, creating a soft, runny yolk coated in a firm but tender white.
Below is a simple method for making poached eggs: Ingredients: Fresh eggs Water Vinegar (optional) Salt and pepper (to taste) Directions: Fill a medium pot with about 2 to 3 inches of water.
Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium heat. You want small bubbles to appear at the bottom of the pan, but you don’t want the water to boil. While the water is heating, crack a fresh egg into a small bowl or baking dish. This step helps keep the egg intact and makes it easier to glide through the water.
If you wish, you can add a splash of vinegar to the boiling water (white vinegar or apple cider vinegar work well). The vinegar helps coagulate the egg whites, resulting in a cleaner shape. However, this step is optional. Once the water is simmering, use a spoon to create a gentle swirl in the center of the pot. This rotating motion helps the egg white wrap around the yolk as it cooks. Gently push the beaten egg into the center of the swirling water.
You can also crack the egg directly into the water without shaking it, but the swirl method creates a more even shape. Allow the egg to cook undisturbed for about 3 to 4 minutes to obtain a soft yolk, or longer if you prefer a firmer yolk. Keep an eye on the egg to make sure it doesn’t overcook. While the egg is cooking, you can prepare toast, English muffins, or other side dishes to serve.

Once the egg white is firm and the yolk has reached the desired degree of doneness, carefully remove the poached egg from the water with a slotted spoon. Gently pat the egg with a clean kitchen towel to remove excess water. Season the poached egg with salt and pepper and serve immediately. Repeat with additional eggs as needed.Poached eggs are delicious on their own, or you can enjoy them on toast, English muffins, avocado toast, salads, or alongside other breakfast favorites like smoked salmon or sautéed spinach.
