Pecan Pie Bars Recipe

 

 

 

Ingredients:

For the crust:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

For the filling:

  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup honey (or you can use corn syrup if preferred)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cups chopped pecans

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to lift out the bars easily after baking.
  2. Make the Crust:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
    • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Press the mixture into the prepared pan, forming an even layer.
    • Bake the crust for about 20 minutes until it is just beginning to brown. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Add the honey and brown sugar, and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
    • Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and stir in the heavy cream.
    • Mix in the chopped pecans.
  4. Assemble and Bake:
    • Pour the pecan filling over the hot crust, spreading evenly.
    • Return the pan to the oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the filling is set.
  5. Cool and Serve:
    • Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
    • Lift out using the overhanging parchment paper and cut into bars.

These pecan pie bars are perfect for sharing and can be an excellent treat for holidays, potlucks, or as a special dessert. Enjoy!
