Here’s how you can make them at home:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional for a smoky flavor)
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, combine the grated mozzarella, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Mix until well combined.
  2. Form Cheese Balls:
    • Take a small amount of the cheese mixture and roll it into a ball about the size of a ping pong ball. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
  3. Coat the Cheese Balls:
    • Place flour, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs in three separate shallow dishes.
    • Roll each cheese ball in the flour, shake off excess, then dip in the beaten egg, and finally roll in bread crumbs to coat evenly.
  4. Freeze:
    • Place the coated cheese balls on a tray and freeze for at least one hour. This step helps them maintain their shape while frying.
  5. Fry the Cheese Balls:
    • Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 375°F (190°C).
    • Fry the cheese balls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Do not overcrowd the pot to maintain the oil temperature.
  6. Drain and Serve:
    • Use a slotted spoon to remove the cheese balls from the oil and drain on paper towels.
    • Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce like marinara, ranch, or ketchup.

Tips:

  • Cheese Selection: You can experiment with different types of cheese like Pepper Jack for a spicy kick or Gouda for a smoother flavor.
  • Serving Suggestion: These cheese balls are best served immediately while hot and gooey on the inside.
  • Baking Option: For a healthier version, you can bake the cheese balls at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes or until golden and crispy.

Enjoy making and serving these tasty cheese balls at your next gathering or as a fun snack!
