Seared Steak with Creamy Sauce on Roasted Potatoes
Ingredients:
- For the Steaks:
- 4 steak cuts (such as ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon)
- Salt and black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme (optional)
- For the Roasted Potatoes:
- 4 large potatoes, halved
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- For the Creamy Sauce:
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Potatoes:
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Toss the potato halves with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Place them cut side down on a baking sheet.
- Roast in the oven for about 40-45 minutes until tender and golden.
- Cook the Steaks:
- Season the steaks generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the steaks and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.
- Add minced garlic and thyme in the last 2 minutes of cooking, basting the steaks with the infused oil.
- Remove from heat and let rest.
- Make the Creamy Sauce:
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add onion and garlic, and sauté until soft and translucent.
- Stir in Dijon mustard, then pour in the heavy cream. Add paprika.
- Simmer until the sauce thickens slightly. Season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble the Dish:
- Arrange the roasted potatoes on a serving plate.
- Slice the rested steaks and place them over the potatoes.
- Pour the creamy sauce over the steaks.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
