“Golden Savory Sausage Rolls with Spicy Dipping Sauce”
Ingredients:
- For the Rolls:
- 1 pound sausage meat (you can use any kind like pork, chicken, or turkey)
- 1 package puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds for sprinkling
- Fresh parsley, finely chopped, for garnish
- For the Dipping Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce or to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a bowl, mix the sausage meat, onion, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Prepare the Pastry:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 1/8 inch thick.
- Cut the pastry into strips about 3 inches wide.
- Assemble the Rolls:
- Divide the sausage mixture and shape into logs along each strip of pastry.
- Brush one edge of the pastry with beaten egg.
- Roll the pastry over the sausage, sealing it with the egg-washed edge.
- Cut each roll into 2-inch pieces.
- Prepare for Baking:
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the tops with more beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped parsley.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare the Dipping Sauce:
- While the rolls are baking, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Adjust seasoning and spiciness to taste.
- Serve:
- Serve the sausage rolls hot with the prepared dipping sauce.
