Enjoy a Polish Classic: Pasta Casserole
Once everyone took a bite of this casserole, they couldn’t stop eating it
Ingredients:
1.5 pounds smoked Polish sausage or kielbasa, sliced
4 cups Penne pasta

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
2.5 cups milk
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon garlic powder
16 ounces sauerkraut (1 jar), washed and well drained
3 cups Swiss cheese, grated and divided
Salt and pepper to taste

Pasta preparation: Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve.
Make the sauce: Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat, add the flour and stir for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is lightly golden brown.Gradually add the milk and continue stirring until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream, Dijon mustard and garlic powder.
Preheat oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Baking Layers: In a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, make the first layer with half of the pasta, sauerkraut, Polish sausage and half of the Swiss cheese. Pour half of the prepared sauce over this layer and spread carefully.Repeat: Continue layering with the remaining pasta, sauerkraut, sausage, cheese and sauce.
Bake to Perfection: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese turns into a melty, bubbly masterpiece.
