Classic Cinnamon Rolls Recipe
Ingredients:
- Dough:
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Filling:
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup butter, softened
- Cream Cheese Icing:
- 6 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup cream cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Prepare the Yeast Mixture:
- In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until well incorporated.
- Knead the Dough:
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Shape the Rolls:
- Roll the dough into a 16×21-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
- Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle evenly with the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
- Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 large rolls.
- Place rolls in a lightly greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes.
- Bake the Rolls:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 25 minutes.
- Make the Cream Cheese Icing:
- In a bowl, beat together butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Spread the icing on warm rolls before serving.
