Classic Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

 

 

 

Ingredients:

  • Dough:
    • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
    • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/3 cup melted butter
    • 2 large eggs
    • 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Filling:
    • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
    • 2 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
    • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • Cream Cheese Icing:
    • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
    • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
    • 1/4 cup cream cheese
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Yeast Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
    • Add sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, and flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until well incorporated.
  2. Knead the Dough:
    • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
  3. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Shape the Rolls:
    • Roll the dough into a 16×21-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
    • Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle evenly with the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
    • Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 large rolls.
    • Place rolls in a lightly greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes.
  5. Bake the Rolls:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Bake cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 25 minutes.
  6. Make the Cream Cheese Icing:
    • In a bowl, beat together butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
    • Spread the icing on warm rolls before serving.
