Ingredients:

  • 8 chicken thighs (bone-in, skin-on or skinless, depending on your preference)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped scallions (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

 STEP 1: PREPARE  MARINADE

  1. In In a large bowl, stir together soy sauce, honey, olive oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil (if using), and black pepper until well blended.2. Taste the marinade and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Depending on your preference, you might add a little more honey for sweetness or soy sauce for saltiness.

 STEP 2: MARINATE THE CHICKEN

  1. Place the chicken thighs in the bowl with the marinade or in a large zip-lock bag.Pour the marinade over the chicken, making sure all the pieces are well coated.
  2. Seal the bag or cover the container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results. The more the chicken is marinated, the tastier it will be.

 STEP 3: PREPARE FOR COOKING

1.Preheat your oven, grill or deep fryer. To bake in the oven, preheat to 200°C (400°F). To grill, prepare  grill to medium-high heat. To air fry, preheat the air fryer to 190°C (380°F).

2.Remove the chicken from the marinade and allow the excess to drip off. If desired, reserve marinade for basting.

 STEP 4: COOK  CHICKEN

  • Bake in the oven: Place the chicken on a parchment-lined baking sheet or a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is caramelized. Halfway through the cooking time, drizzle with the reserved marinade  if desired.• Grill: Grill  chicken thighs over medium-high heat for about 20 to 25 minutes, turning occasionally,  or until cooked through. Baste with  marinade during the first 10 minutes of roasting.
  • Air Frying: Place the chicken thighs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for about 20 to 25 minutes, turning halfway through, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

 STEP 5: PARTICIPATE

1.After cooking, let the chicken rest for a few minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, making the chicken juicier and more  flavorful.

  1. Garnish with chopped spring onions and sesame seeds before serving.

 Tips:

  • Always check the internal temperature of your chicken with a meat thermometer to ensure it is safely cooked to 165°F (74°C).
  • The reserved marinade should be cooked before basting or serving as a sauce to kill any bacteria on the raw chicken.
