Ingredients

  • 1 medium butternut squash, peeled, seeded, and sliced into half-moon shapes
  • 4-5 slices of bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Gruyère cheese (or a mix)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Olive oil for greasing

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Butternut Squash

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with olive oil.
  3. Arrange the butternut squash slices in the baking dish, slightly overlapping them to cover the entire dish.

Step 2: Make the Cream Mixture

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, milk, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir well to mix.
  2. Pour the cream mixture evenly over the butternut squash slices.

Step 3: Add Cheese and Bacon

  2. Scatter the chopped, cooked bacon on top.

Step 4: Bake the Gratin
