Breakfast Pizza with Sausage and Eggs
Ingredients:
- Pizza Dough:
- 1 lb store-bought or homemade pizza dough
- Toppings:
- 1/2 lb sausage, crumbled and cooked
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 4 large eggs
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: chopped chives or parsley for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up. If not, a large baking sheet will work as well.
- Prepare the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness, typically about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper.
- Cook the Sausage: In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until fully cooked and browned. Break it into small crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the dough.
- Add the Sausage: Distribute the cooked sausage crumbles evenly over the cheese.
- Crack the Eggs: Make small wells in the toppings and crack an egg into each well. Season with salt and pepper.
- Bake the Pizza: Transfer the pizza on the parchment paper directly onto the pizza stone or hot baking sheet. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the egg whites are set and the crust is golden and crispy.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, sprinkle with chopped chives or parsley if using, and let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
