- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Puff Pastry: Thaw the puff pastry according to the package instructions. Unfold the pastry onto a lightly floured surface and cut into squares or rectangles.
- Add Filling: Spoon a small amount of jam into the center of each pastry square, being careful not to overfill.
- Seal the Pastries: Fold the pastry over the filling to form triangles or leave as squares and pinch the edges to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
- Apply Egg Wash: Brush the top of each pastry with egg wash. This gives the pastry a beautiful golden color when baked.
- Bake: Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Let the pastries cool slightly on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
Variations:
- Savory Option: Replace the jam with a savory filling like cheese and ham, spinach and feta, or even some leftover cooked vegetables.
- Chocolate Twist: For a sweet delight, a spoonful of Nutella or any chocolate spread can replace the fruit jam.
This recipe is versatile and allows for a lot of creativity, so you can adjust the fillings according to what you enjoy!
