Creamy Cheese or Coconut Dessert Cups

 

 

 

Ingredients:

  • Base:
    • 1 can (400g) sweetened condensed milk
    • 2 cups whole milk
    • 2 tbsp cornstarch
    • 3 egg yolks
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Topping:
    • 1/2 cup grated cheese (preferably a mild cheese like mozzarella or cheddar)
    • OR
    • 1/2 cup grated coconut (sweetened or unsweetened, based on preference)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Custard:
    • In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and cornstarch. Whisk until smooth and the cornstarch is fully dissolved.
    • Add the egg yolks and whisk well.
    • Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens to a creamy consistency. This should take about 5–8 minutes.
    • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  2. Assemble the Cups:
    • Pour the custard evenly into dessert cups while it is still warm.
    • Allow it to cool slightly at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours, or until fully set.
  3. Add the Topping:
    • Before serving, sprinkle grated cheese or coconut on top of each dessert cup. If using coconut, you can lightly toast it beforehand for added flavor.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve chilled and enjoy this creamy and indulgent dessert!
