Creamy Cheese or Coconut Dessert Cups
Ingredients:
- Base:
- 1 can (400g) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Topping:
- 1/2 cup grated cheese (preferably a mild cheese like mozzarella or cheddar)
- OR
- 1/2 cup grated coconut (sweetened or unsweetened, based on preference)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Custard:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, and cornstarch. Whisk until smooth and the cornstarch is fully dissolved.
- Add the egg yolks and whisk well.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens to a creamy consistency. This should take about 5–8 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Assemble the Cups:
- Pour the custard evenly into dessert cups while it is still warm.
- Allow it to cool slightly at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours, or until fully set.
- Add the Topping:
- Before serving, sprinkle grated cheese or coconut on top of each dessert cup. If using coconut, you can lightly toast it beforehand for added flavor.
- Serve:
- Serve chilled and enjoy this creamy and indulgent dessert!
