Classic Pepperoni and Mushroom Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
- Pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1/4 cup sliced green bell peppers (optional)
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Fresh basil leaves (optional for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up as well.
- Prepare the Dough: Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness, typically about 12 inches in diameter for a medium pizza. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal or a parchment-lined baking sheet if you don’t have a pizza stone.
- Add Toppings: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then arrange the pepperoni slices and mushrooms evenly on the cheese. Add the green bell peppers if using.
- Bake the Pizza: Slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, and sprinkle over the Parmesan cheese and dried oregano. Add fresh basil leaves for a touch of freshness if desired. Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
