Sweet Dough Fritters Recipe (Buñuelos)

 

 

 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Optional: powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar for dusting

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients:
    • Mix in the melted butter, eggs, and milk until the dough comes together. It should be sticky but manageable. If it’s too sticky, add a little more flour.
  3. Heat Oil:
    • Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Form and Fry Fritters:
    • Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough into the hot oil using a spoon or a small ice cream scoop. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
    • Fry until golden brown on all sides, turning once, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Drain and Serve:
    • Use a slotted spoon to remove the fritters from the oil and drain on paper towels.
    • While still warm, dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar if desired.
