- 1/4 cup grated cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Bread Rolls
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the bread rolls or baguette into 2-inch pieces and carefully hollow out the centers, leaving a sturdy shell. Set aside.
Step 2: Make the Meat Filling
- In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, parsley, Parmesan (if using), egg, salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano. Mix well until fully incorporated.
- Fill the hollowed-out bread rolls generously with the meat mixture, packing it in tightly.
Step 3: Prepare the Sauce
- In a small bowl, combine the grated tomatoes, tomato paste, water, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Add sugar if desired. Mix well.
- Spread a thin layer of the sauce on top of the stuffed bread rolls, ensuring each is covered.
Step 4: Bake
- Grease a baking dish with butter or oil and arrange the stuffed bread rolls in it.
- Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle with grated cheese (if using), and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes, or until the tops are golden and the meat is cooked through.
Step 5: Serve
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or a drizzle of olive oil for added flavor.
