Skillet Flatbread

 

 

 

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 3/4 cup plain yogurt
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1/4 cup warm water (as needed)
– Additional olive oil or butter for cooking

1. **Mix the Dough:**
– In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder.
– Add the yogurt and olive oil, and mix until the dough starts to come together.
– Gradually add warm water, a little at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
– Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

2. **Rest the Dough:**
– Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. This helps the dough relax and makes it easier to roll out.

3. **Shape the Flatbreads:**
– Divide the dough into 6-8 equal pieces, depending on the size of flatbreads you want.
– Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it with your hands or a rolling pin into a circle about 1/4 inch thick.

4. **Cook the Flatbreads:**
– Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add a small amount of olive oil or butter.
– Place a flatbread in the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface and the bottom is golden brown.
– Flip the flatbread and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.
– Remove from the skillet and cover with a clean towel to keep warm. Repeat with the remaining dough.

5. **Serve:**
– Serve the flatbreads warm with your favorite dips, spreads, or as a side to a main dish.
