Ingredients

– 3 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon sugar
– 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
– 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
– 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for greasing)
– Additional flour for dusting

1. **Prepare the Dough:**
– In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
– Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
– Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
– Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size.

2. **Shape the Dough:**
– Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air.
– Turn the dough onto a floured surface and divide it into two equal parts.
– Shape each portion into a round loaf, flattening it slightly.

3. **Cook the Bread:**
– Heat a large skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with olive oil.
– Place one of the dough rounds into the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
– Repeat the process with the second dough round.

4. **Cool and Serve:**
– Transfer the cooked bread to a wire rack to cool slightly before slicing.
– Serve warm with butter, or use it as a base for your favorite toppings.
