Savory Stuffing Balls with Gravy Recipe
Ingredients:
- For the Stuffing Balls:
- 2 cups breadcrumbs or cubed stale bread
- 1 cup cooked sausage meat or finely chopped cooked chicken (optional)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- 1/2 cup finely chopped celery
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chicken broth (more if needed)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 egg, beaten
- For the Gravy:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups chicken or beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make Stuffing Mixture:
- In a large bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, sausage meat or chicken, onions, celery, garlic, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Mix in the chicken broth, melted butter, and beaten egg until everything is well combined. The mixture should be moist but not overly wet. Add more broth if necessary.
- Form Stuffing Balls:
- Shape the mixture into balls, each about the size of a golf ball.
- Arrange the stuffing balls on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and cooked through.

- While the stuffing balls are baking, prepare the gravy.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until it forms a paste (roux).
