Nun’s Puffs
Ingredients:
- 1 stick butter (½ cup)
- 1 cup milk
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- ½ to 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
- Granulated sugar for sprinkling
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a standard muffin tin or line with parchment baking cups.
- Make the Dough: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the milk and bring to a boil. Remove from heat immediately.
- Add the Flour: Stir in the flour all at once, mixing vigorously until the mixture forms a dough ball. Let it cool for 5 minutes.
- Incorporate the Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each. The batter will become smooth and glossy.
- Optional Sugar: Stir in ½ to 1 tablespoon sugar if desired.
- Bake the Puffs: Spoon batter into muffin cups, filling halfway. Sprinkle tops lightly with granulated sugar.
- Bake: Bake for 30–35 minutes until puffed and golden brown. Do not open the oven during the first 25 minutes.
- Cool and Serve: Let cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm.
