Golden Crispy Cheese-Stuffed Balls:
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions or herbs
- 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
Preparing the Mixture
- Make Batter: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add beaten eggs and milk to the dry ingredients, stirring until you form a thick batter.
- Add Cheese and Herbs: Fold in the shredded mozzarella and chopped green onions or herbs into the batter until evenly distributed.
Shaping and Frying
- Heat Oil: In a deep fryer or large saucepan, heat oil to 375°F (190°C). The oil should be deep enough to completely submerge the balls.
- Form Balls: Using two spoons or a small ice cream scoop, form balls from the batter. Each ball should be about the size of a golf ball.
- Coat in Breadcrumbs: Roll each ball in breadcrumbs to coat them completely.
- Fry: Fry the balls in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain: Remove the fried balls with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serving
- Serve Hot: Serve the cheese-stuffed fried balls hot with your choice of dipping sauces such as marinara, ranch dressing, or a spicy aioli.
