Wonton Soup Recipe
Ingredients for Wontons:
- 1/2 lb ground pork or chicken
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Wonton wrappers
Ingredients for Soup:
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 2 green onions, chopped
- Fresh cilantro or parsley, for garnish
Instructions:
- Make the Filling:
- In a bowl, combine the ground pork or chicken, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic. Mix well until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Assemble Wontons:
- Place a small teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, fold in half to form a triangle, and press the edges to seal. Bring the two opposite corners together and press to seal.
- Prepare the Soup:
- In a large pot, bring the chicken broth and water to a boil. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
- Cook Wontons:
- Drop the wontons into the boiling soup and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they float to the top and are fully cooked.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Add chopped green onions to the soup. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro or parsley.
