Cheesy Potato Bake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1.5 kg potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional for added flavor)
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Prepare Potatoes:
- Peel and thinly slice the potatoes. A mandoline slicer is recommended for even thickness.
- Make Cheese Sauce:
- In a saucepan, sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
- Add cream, milk, salt, pepper, and paprika to the pan and bring to a simmer.
- Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of the shredded cheese until melted and smooth.
- Assemble the Bake:
- In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
- Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cheese sauce.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheese on top.
- Bake:
- Cover with foil and bake for 60 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes or until the top is golden and crispy.
- Serve:
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
- Garnish with chopped parsley for a touch of color and freshness.
