Cheesy Baked Chicken
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Chicken:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Brown the Chicken:
- In a large oven-proof skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the chicken breasts and sear on both sides until golden, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the Sauce:
- In the same skillet, melt the butter.
- Add the flour and stir for about 1 minute to form a roux.
- Gradually add the chicken broth and heavy cream, whisking continuously until the sauce thickens.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese until it melts and the sauce is smooth.
- Assemble and Bake:
- Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over them.
- Top each breast with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Place the skillet in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Sprinkle chopped parsley over the top before serving.
