Instructions:

1. **Prepare the Apples:**
– Peel the apples and core them using an apple corer. Slice the apples into rings about 1/4 inch thick. You should have round slices with a hole in the middle.

2. **Make the Batter:**
– In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
– In another bowl, beat the egg and add the milk and vanilla extract. Gradually whisk the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until you have a smooth batter.

3. **Fry the Apple Rings:**
– Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
– Dip each apple ring into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off, and carefully place them into the hot oil.
– Fry the apple rings for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
– Use a slotted spoon to remove the apple rings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

4. **Serve:**
– While the apple rings are still warm, dust them with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.
– Serve immediately and enjoy the warm, crispy, and sweet apple rings!
