“Heavenly Banana Trifle: Layers of Joy”

 

 

 

Ingredients:

  • Vanilla Custard
    • 2 cups milk
    • 3 tablespoons sugar
    • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 egg yolks
  • Whipped Cream
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Layers and Garnish
    • 3 ripe bananas, sliced
    • 1/2 package of vanilla wafers, crumbled
    • Optional: additional banana slices for garnish

Directions:

  1. Make the Custard:
    • In a saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Gradually stir in milk over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and boils. Remove from heat.
    • In a small bowl, whisk egg yolks. Gradually whisk in a small amount of the hot milk mixture. Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan, whisking constantly.
    • Cook over low heat for 1-2 minutes until the custard is thick. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract, and let cool.
  2. Prepare the Whipped Cream:
    • In a chilled bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. Assemble the Trifle:
    • In a clear glass bowl, place a layer of crumbled vanilla wafers at the bottom.
    • Add a layer of vanilla custard over the cookies.
    • Arrange a layer of sliced bananas over the custard.
    • Spread a layer of whipped cream over the bananas.
    • Repeat the layering process if the bowl allows, finishing with a layer of whipped cream.
    • Garnish with additional banana slices and crumbled cookies.
  4. Chill and Serve:
    • Refrigerate the trifle for at least one hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
