Carne Asada Tacos

 

 

 

Ingredients:

For the Carne Asada:

  • 2 lbs flank or skirt steak
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeño, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Tacos:

  • Corn tortillas
  • 1 white onion, finely chopped
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Lime wedges, for serving
  • Salsa or hot sauce, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Steak:
    • In a bowl, whisk together orange juice, lime juice, olive oil, garlic, jalapeño, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Place the steak in a large zip-top bag and pour the marinade over the steak. Seal the bag and ensure the steak is well-coated.
    • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
  2. Grill the Steak:
    • Preheat your grill to high heat.
    • Remove the steak from the marinade and grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side, depending on thickness, until medium-rare or to your desired doneness.
    • Let the steak rest for a few minutes, then slice against the grain into thin strips.
  3. Prepare the Tacos:
    • Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in a skillet.
    • Assemble the tacos by placing a few slices of steak on each tortilla, followed by a sprinkle of chopped onion and cilantro.
    • Serve with lime wedges and salsa or hot sauce on the side.
